CHANIPEN creates its imprint, CHANIPEN Press

The association creates its own imprint to publish from within the Roma people, without intermediaries.

In August 2026 the association set up its own imprint, CHANIPEN Press, and registered it with the Spanish ISBN Agency.

The decision follows an idea that runs through all of CHANIPEN’s work: if the aim is for knowledge about the Roma people to be produced by the Roma people, that knowledge also needs a channel of its own to be published through, with the same guarantees as any other publication.

The imprint’s first two works are the Romanipen Escolar materials: the Pupils’ workbook —the agenda— and the Teaching guide for 2026-2027. Both are edited and published by CHANIPEN Press in Cartagena, with the collaboration of the City Council’s Equality Service and funding from the European Union through ROVA and FAGIC.

The imprint is built to last: it is set to publish new educational resources, academic research, outreach work and reports from the association’s areas of work.

Having an imprint is not paperwork: it is the infrastructure that makes it possible to decide what gets published, in which language and for whom, without depending on intermediaries.
